| A senior at Trevor Browne High School with a GPA of 4.3, Ana Vega is the Gold Medallion 2004 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards Phoenix Regional Winner for Academic Excellence sponsored by Chase and MasterCard International. Of Mexican descent, Ana, who will be the first in her family to attend college, intends to major in biology at Arizona State University and pursue her goal of becoming a pediatrician. At Trevor Browne High, where Ana is involved in Student Government, she also serves as the Vice President of the National Honor Society. Ana volunteers through S.T.A.R. Kids Tutoring as well as St. Mary?s Food Bank and Maryvale Hospital. At the hospital she was able to help bridge the gap between the Spanish speaking patient and the English speaking doctor. Ana?s life was greatly impacted by the unexpected death of her mother, causing her to grow as nothing else could. From this loss, she learned ?you should love your life and every second of it. Life is indispensable and should be lived to the fullest. ? |
