Jose Abraham Becerril and his family arrived to the U.S. from Mexico City when Jose was six. His goals for the future might sound ambitious, but setting high standards is something he practices regularly. He ranked 2nd in his senior class at Manual High School. Jose is also an avid sports player having played on the varsity team of soccer, baseball, golf, and football. His goal is to study bioengineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and then to pursue his Ph.D. The final aim is to establish a research center that would bring together the best minds in the world to test genetic engineering of human organs for transplants. His dedication to self-improvement is evidenced in his enthusiasm for taking part in prep courses and activities. He participated in the University of Colorado, Denver, Pre-Collegiate Program and in an intensive training at the Career Education Center and Roosevelt Research Center. He was one of the first Manual High School students to be accepted into the Medical Careers Collaborative with Children?s Hospital, completing rotations in the hospital as an intern.
Jose will complete his Bachelors Degree in MCDB and continue toward a Bio-Engineering Degree. |
