| Of Mexican descent, Isabel Sanchez will graduate with a 4.08 GPA from Fenwick High School. A valued player on her school’s softball team, she hopes to continue playing while in college and says “as there is no other feeling of standing on the mound and being in control”. Isabel has been playing softball since the first grade and has received the title of most valuable opponent for the last 3 years of high school. Her summer travel team plays at the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) level. In addition to her success on the field, Isabel is also an active member of her community. She has held leadership positions within Kairos retreats, is a member of the Building Books program, and has worked at homeless shelters, food pantries, the Annual Unity Walk and Peace Rally in Chicago, and for an organization called Share Your Soles. Isabel also finds time in her busy schedule to study flamenco dancing and martial arts. An Illinois State Scholar, Isabel will attend Swathmore, University of Chicago, or the University of Illinois Chicago in order to pursue a degree in Biological Sciences or Biomedical Engineering in hopes to becoming a doctor. |
