| Edward Garza’s teacher describes him as a committed and dedicated student to excellence in the classroom, on the athletic field, when writing for the school newspaper and when entering to win any academic contests he enters. As a senior at J. Frank Dobie High School, he is either enrolled or has enrolled previously in almost every AP or Honors courses the school has to offer and will graduate top amongst his class. In addition to his academic accomplishments, Edward has also used his writing skills to tell the stories of those individuals in his school’s community and neighborhood affected by Hurricane Ike, forming an investigative group of other student writers to perform interviews and visually assess the effects of Ike on both the property and the people. Of Mexican descent, Edward will be the first in has family to go to college and will pursue a Creative Writing degree and Media Production degree at the University of Houston. |
